The Native American Pow Wow

31st Annual Whispering Winds Pow-Wow and show. The pow-wow is an opportunity for the public to interact with American Indian dancers, singers, drummers, artists and crafts persons. Also, this event is an attempt by Pow-Wow to educate the public about American Indians, past and present, through the arts. Fun activities for children and adults include dance interaction and face painting, (birds of prey, petting zoo and pony rides, weather permitting), canvas painting, beadwork and dreamcatcher making. Members of the Haliwa-Saponi, Piscataway, Rappahannock, Cherokee, Sioux, Iroquois, Lumbee, and Navajo are a few of the Tribes that will participate this year. Some of the finest Native American crafts will be available. Items for sale include fine art turquoise jewelry, moccasins, beadwork, rugs, books, paintings, and more. Buffalo stew, Indian fry bread, Indian tacos, Indian corn soup, and buffalo burgers are just a few of the Native American food items that will be on sale at the event. American fare, such as hot dogs, hamburgers will be sold as well
